Two Year Stats

Drake had his two year old well visit with the doctor today. I say well visit, but amazingly, other than when he lost over a pound when he was first born, we have only been to the doctor for well visits. He did have a cough today when he went in, but it is not something that needs to be medically treated.

David made his first solo trip the the doctor today (I had the dentist with Drake yesterday), so I had to get a play-by-play of the visit. Drake had a finger prick to test the blood, to which he responded "hurt". The stats that we all were waiting for:

Height: 36 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 28.6 pounds (55th percentile)
Head: 49.6cm (77th percentile)
Drake's height is pretty much where it has been since day one. He has continued to gain weight and actually moved up slightly in percentiles there. Head, well, it continues to increase and looks like we have moved from the small Moreland head to the big Bishop head.

He continues to grow and develop as he should. He has quite an extensive vocabulary, although he does not string series of words together. His doctor told us it was time to get rid of bah (his pacifier), so that will be our next challenge. Since he started his new daycare in August, he only uses it at night as he is going to bed. He does ask for it every night, though so I anticipate this will be a bit of a challenge. Hopefully in the next few weeks though we will be bah free.

Happy Valentine's Day

Yes, I do realize that I am a few days late in this post, but I was out of town on Valentine's Day. I am so lucky to have David and Drake in my life and to have them as my valentines every day of the year.
Thanks Aunt Genevieve for Drake's super cute Valentine's pajamas
To celebrate Valentine's Day, Drake's school had a little party to celebrate all the classroom friendships. Now, his class is very small, only three full-time boys and one part-time girl, so there was not too many friendships to celebrate. All the kids brought valentines and the class did some little crafts. Seems like Drake had a great time.
I cannot take too much credit for the valentines that Drake gave his class. I found the printable online and just had to buy craft paper to put it all together. Each bag had some gummy worms and a plastic bug. From what I hear, the kids liked them. One of his teachers, however, did not appreciate the cockroach in her bag...I guess she had a bad apartment experience at some point in time!

Drake's 2nd Birthday Bash

I'm not sure how it is possible for Drake to already be two years old, but he turned two today. This past Saturday we had a small birthday party for him to celebrate. The majority of the Bishops were able to join us in the celebration as well as a couple of our neighborhood kids.

I am not a big "theme" person, although I wanted to make some type of animal looking cupcake. Drake is pretty into marine animals right now, so I had originally thought of whales (he likes speaking whale like Dory from Finding Nemo. After doing an internet search, I quickly realized that whales were out of my decorating abilities, so I settled on turtles. While I am not ready to be signed up for Cupcake Wars, I think my turtle cupcakes turned out pretty cute.
I also wanted to do make your own pizzas for the kids, but in the end, I just decided to make personal pizzas for everyone. Drake did jump in to help me with a lot of the rolling out of the pizza dough.
Just a few more pictures from the party. We appreciate everyone that was able to join us and missed everyone that was not able to come. Drake's 2 year old doctor's appointment is not until February 27th, but I will be sure to post his stats after that visit.

He blew out his candle on the first try!

Where Have We Been?

I'm sorry to all of our loyal followers about our lack of posts. I did not realize it has been so long but with the holidays, the start of the semester, and the start of  my travel, the blog has gotten away from me. Hopefully I will work to find the time to most more updates and get back to sharing with the readers how we spend our days.

Since my last post, I have been to New Orleans, Durham, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, and now Charlottesville. David and Drake have joined me on the New Orleans and Jacksonville trip while the other three have been basketball trips. January saw the end of our alternating monthly between going to New Orleans and Florida. Sad to see the family visits end for a while, but with my work schedule, it is hard to plan any extra travel until we make it through March.

A few pictures from the last two months:
Drake and Aunt Genevieve with a giant seahorse
Drake seeing and playing with his Santa present for the first time. It is a pop-up hamster habitat
Drake decided it is a must to wear his new "hat" while sitting in his pajamas on the sofa
Drake trying out the balance bike we had gotten him months ago. This was our first go and he was happier being pushed around. Since then he has figured out how to "ride" it
Drake told me "hat, hat" and came back with the fire hat. I asked if he was a fireman to which he answered by sitting on the firetruck and riding it around the living room

We have a lot going on in the next few days, including Drake turning 2! Stay tuned for our next update (I promise you will not have to wait another two months)...
